What’s new

Before this change, you had to add a marketplace first and install the plugin second. A marketplace is a catalog of plugins. Claude Code 2.1.292 added the --marketplace option to claude plugin install from your shell. It adds the marketplace if you do not have it yet, then installs the plugin.

The same release lets Claude run a helper agent at an effort level you ask for.

Why it matters

A plugin author can now give you one line to copy instead of two. This also makes setup scripts shorter.

A plugin can run code on your computer. Add a marketplace only when you trust its author.

How to try it

claude plugin install deploy-helper --marketplace your-org/plugins
