This is a draft for review by a lawyer. It is not legal advice, and it is not yet the final text.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Some cookies are necessary for the site to work. Others, such as analytics cookies, need your consent first, under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the UK GDPR and, for visitors in the EU, the ePrivacy rules and the EU GDPR.
2. The cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Category | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
oexp_consent | Remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask again on every page. | 6 months | Necessary | 0exp (first party) |
payload-token | Keeps our own staff signed in to the admin area (/admin). Never set for visitors. | 2 hours | Necessary (staff only) | 0exp (first party) |
payload-theme, payload-lng | Remember the admin area theme and language for our staff. Never set for visitors. | Up to 1 year | Necessary (staff only) | 0exp (first party) |
_ga | Google Analytics: tells visits apart, so we can count visitors. Only if you accept analytics. | 2 years | Analytics | Google Analytics (on our domain) |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics: keeps the state of your visit (session). Only if you accept analytics. | 2 years | Analytics | Google Analytics (on our domain) |
The checkout, the payment links and the email sign-up forms do not set cookies. Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages, under Stripe's cookie policy.
3. Analytics
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages help. We use Google Consent Mode: until you say yes, Google Analytics is not loaded at all and sets no cookies. We remove order numbers and checkout links from the addresses we send, and we never send your email or licence key. Google processes this data for us as a processor.
Marketing cookies: we do not run ads, so the Marketing switch sets no cookies today.
4. How to change your choice
Use this button, or "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page:
You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the oexp_consent cookie, we ask you again. We ask again after 6 months, or when we change the cookies we use.
