Add payments with Stripe
Stripe AI Toolkit
Stripe's official plugin with skills and tools that help an agent add payments, check out pages and billing to an app. Use test mode keys only.
- Works with
- Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI
- Good for
- Build an app, Web developers
What it does
What it is
Stripe made a plugin so that an agent can follow Stripe's own advice when it adds payments to your app. It includes skills (instructions) and tools that can talk to the Stripe API.
Who it helps
People who build a shop, a booking site or a subscription app and want checkout done the Stripe-approved way.
How to start
- Create a Stripe test-mode account.
- Make a restricted API key with only the rights you need.
- Install the plugin and ask for one small feature.
Be careful
Money is involved. Use test mode until you checked the whole flow. Do not paste secret keys into the chat. Review every change to your payment code.
How to install
claude plugin install stripe@claude-plugins-officialcodex plugin add stripe@openai-curatednpx skills add https://docs.stripe.comHow to use it
Ask the agent to add a payment feature, for example "add a checkout button for a 20 dollar product". Use a Stripe test-mode key and a restricted key with only the rights the task needs.
What to watch out for
- Payments are high stakes. Use a test-mode key first. Never paste a live secret key into a chat.
- The tools can create and change Stripe objects (products, prices, links). Use a restricted key so a mistake cannot refund or delete.
- The plugin installs a hook file and a connector file. Read them before you enable the plugin.

How we tested it
We installed it on an empty test computer on 12 Oct 2026. Partly tested: installed in a clean test system, but its main features need an account or key we did not use.
We did not use a Stripe key, so the tools were not called. We did not test the Codex or npx routes.
Technical details of the test
- Date
- 12 Oct 2026
- Method
- Added the official Anthropic marketplace and installed the stripe plugin with the Claude Code command line in a clean container with no account. The plugin showed as enabled. The folder held 10 skills, one agent file, one hook file and one connector file. All 60 skill files in the repository have a name and a description, and the manifests are valid JSON.
Checked again on 12 Oct 2026
