Turn a book into a course
book-to-course
Claude Code plugin that turns a book or long document (EPUB, PDF, DOCX, Markdown) into a local browser course with lessons, quizzes and flashcards.
- Works with
- Claude Code
- Good for
- Daily work and research
What it does
Reading a long book and remembering it are two different things. This plugin takes a book or long document and turns it into a small course that runs in your web browser, on your own computer.
A course can have short lessons with examples and diagrams, quizzes with hints, chapter tests and flashcards. Your progress is saved locally, so you can stop and continue later. For programming books it can also add coding exercises with automatic tests.
It accepts EPUB, PDF, HTML, DOCX, Markdown and plain text files. Two extra skills can pack the finished course as an offline Android app or a Linux desktop app, but those need extra developer tools.
Example prompts
- "Turn this book into an interactive course"
- "Make the course for complete beginners and add flashcards for each chapter"
- "Add a short quiz at the end of every chapter"
- "Make an APK of this course for my tablet"

Common problems
- The plugin commands do not appear — the plugin loads when Claude Code starts — run
/pluginto check it is installed and enabled, then restart Claude Code. - The course stops in the middle of a long book — very long files do not fit in one session — give it one part or a few chapters at a time.
What to watch out for
- Reads the whole book or document you give it
- Writes a course folder with web pages and scripts to your computer
- Optional phone and Linux app packaging downloads large extra tools (JDK, Android SDK, Electron)
- Only share courses made from material you have the rights to

We installed it on an empty test computer on 13 Oct 2026. Installed and started in a clean test system. Not yet used in a real AI session.
Not yet used on real work.
Technical details of the test
- Date
- 13 Oct 2026
- Method
- Intake sandbox run on 2026-10-13 in a clean container with no account: cloned the repository and checked its skill, agent and plugin files; installed book-to-course@book-to-course with the Claude Code command line.
Checked again on 13 Oct 2026
Alternatives
- MarkItDown MCP — converts documents to text but does not build a course
- Knowledge Work Plugins — role-based work helpers rather than study material
