Give your assistant your Figma files
Framelink MCP for Figma
Connector that lets your assistant read a Figma file, frame or group from a link and turn it into code, using a personal Figma access token you create.
- Works with
- Any agent
- Good for
- Graphic designers
What it does
This connector reads layout, colours, text and images from a Figma link and gives a simplified version to your assistant, which then writes code that matches the design.
The install line is part of a JSON config block in the README, not a single terminal command; Claude should confirm the exact Claude Code setup. Figma also runs its own official server (see Alternatives).
Example prompts
- "Build this Figma frame as an HTML page: <link>"
- "List the colours and fonts used in this Figma file"
- "Turn this Figma component into a React button"
How to install
claude mcp add framelink-figma -- npx -y figma-developer-mcp --figma-api-key=YOUR-KEY --stdioHow to use it
Paste a link to a Figma frame and ask the assistant to build it as a web page.
Check it works
After restarting the assistant, ask it to list its tools; Figma tools should appear.
Common problems
- The assistant cannot read your Figma file — the token is wrong or your account cannot open the file — make a new personal access token in Figma settings, run the add command again with it, and check you can open the file in Figma.
claude mcp listdoes not show framelink-figma — the add command did not finish — run it again in the terminal, outside the assistant.
What to watch out for
- Needs a Figma personal access token (keep it secret)
- Sends Figma file data to your AI assistant
- Runs via npx

How we tested it
We installed it on an empty test computer on 13 Oct 2026. Installed and started in a clean test system. Not yet used in a real AI session.
Not yet used on real work.
Technical details of the test
- Date
- 13 Oct 2026
- Method
- Intake sandbox run on 2026-10-13 in a clean container with no account: cloned the repository and checked its skill, agent and plugin files; added framelink-figma with "claude mcp add" and checked the connection.
Checked again on 12 Oct 2026
Alternatives
- Figma MCP server (official) — signs in with your Figma account and can also write to the canvas; repo has no licence field so not listed as an entry
FAQ
- Q: Is it free? A: The repo is open source (MIT); any API keys or services it uses may cost money.
- Q: Do I need to code? A: No, you describe what you want in plain words; the assistant does the rest.
